Hilal Committee Members Meeting (Sunday 10 June 2007 @ 10 AM to 2 PM)

This is to inform you that The Hilal Committee of Toronto will be having a special General Membership meeting InshaAllah on
Sunday the 10th of June 2007.

The meeting will be held at Islamic Foundation
441 Nugget Ave. (Markham Rd and Sheppard)

Registration of representatives will start at 10.00 am, and the meeting will start at 10.30am sharp and will conclude with a
break for lunch and Salatul Zuhur.

We will InsahAllah have a Conference/Seminar on Hilal in the afternoon. Followed by question and answer session.
The morning session is strictly for the reps of member organizations of Hilal Committee.

The afternoon sessions after salatul Zuhur will be open to general public. Organisations can make announcement in this
regard.

Your Organizations representation and participation is very important.
Please have a maximum of two reps and one Imam or Scholar of your organization attend the meeting.

The hilal/crescent was sighted in various cities of North America on the evening of Friday, January 19th 2007. Therefore the
1st of Muharram is Saturday, corresponding the 20th of January 2007.

The 10th of Muharram (Aashoora) will fall on Monday, corresponding to the 29th of January, 2007.

The Hilal Committee wishes everyone a happy new Islamic year, including the congregation of 80 Masjids and Islamic

Zhul Hijjah (Eidul Adha) 1427/ 2006 Announcement

There have been no valid confirmed reports of hilal/ crescent sighting anywhere in North America on Wednesday evening (20th
of December 2006).The Hilal Committee of Toronto & Vicinity announces that the month of Zhul Qa'adah will complete its cycle
of 30 days and the 1st of Zhul Hijjah 1427 will be on Friday, corresponding December 22, 2006.

Eidul Adha (10th of Zhul Hijjah) will fall on Sunday the 31st of December, 2006.

2006).

The Hilal Committee of Metropolitan Toronto and Vicinity announces the 1st of Zhul Qa'adah 1427 to be on Wednesday the 22nd
of November, 2006.

The hilal/crescent was sighted in North America on the evening of Sunday the 29th of Ramadan (22nd of October, 2006).

the 23rd of October, 2006.

September, 2006. (First day of Fasting is on Sunday)

The crescent for the month of Rabiul Awwal was not sighted anywhere in North America on the eve of  Wednesday, March 29, 2006.  Therefore the month of Safar will complete its cycle of 30 days and the 1st of Rabiul Awwal 1427 will be on Friday, corresponding the 31st of March 2006.

Muharram 1427 / 2006 (New Islamic Year) Announcement

The crescent for the month of Muharram was sighted on the eve of Monday 30th of January, 2006

The hilal/crescent was sighted in various cities across North America on the evening of Monday, January 30th 2006. Therefore the 1st of Muharram will start Tuesday, corresponding the 31st of January 2006.

The crescent was sighted in several cities of North America on Friday evening (2nd of December 2005). The Hilal Committee of Metropolitan Toronto & Vicinity announces the 1st of Zhul-Qa'dah to be on Saturday, corresponding the 3rd of December 2005.

Resolution of Meeting with the Ulama

A meeting with the Ulama was held on 27/11/2005 to discus whether the Caribbean should be included in the North American Matla (horizon) for hilal sighting. After lengthy discussions by the Ulama & Muftis, a unanimous resolution was passed by the Ulama of the Hilal Committee of Toronto & Vicinity that our North American Matla (horizon) guidelines for moon sighting will remain as is without including the Caribbean islands/ territories.

There have been no valid confirmed reports of hilal/ moon sighting anywhere in North America. The Hilal Committee of Toronto & Vicinity announces that the month of Ramadan will complete its cycle of 30 days and the 1st of Shawwal (Eid ul Fitr) will be on Friday corresponding November 04, 2005.

We wish a blessed Eid Mubarak to all, including the congregation of 71 Masjids and Islamic organizations who are part of the Hilal Committee of GTA, Canada.

The Hilal Committee personnel (scholars and astronomy professionals) spoke directly to all those who claimed to see the crescent in cities across North America and the frail reports did not meet the sharee/religious principles to declare the commencement of the new lunar month. The alleged sighting reports also went against all professional astronomical data & calculations.

Please note that according to Fiqh when the horizon is clear, then it is necessary for a multitude of people to give testimony for eye witnessing the new moon.
